Serial Device does not connect after first use

If you are experiencing the following symptoms:


  1. PC is booted and the first Stress Test is completed without issues
  2. PC is idle for any amount of time
  3. A second test is to begin
  4. Amedtec instantly does not accept a connection to the Ergometer showing a red cross



These problems are known with the latest 2023 CH340 COM Port drivers from Microsoft.


In our experiences rolling back the driver to the previous version from 2019 rectifies this issue:






  1. Enter Device Manager by right clicking the start button and choosing Device Manager
  2. Find the CH340 COM Port Adapter USB SERIAL CH340
  3. Double Click on this, and then choose the Driver tab
  4. Choose the Roll Back Driver option.



Restart the computer.


This should now take you back to the working copy of the driver.


Test Amedtec can connect to the Ergometer, and can also connect on subsequent tests.
