Performing a Leak test

Modified on Wed, 19 Oct, 2022 at 5:33 PM

When there has been a suspected leak on a gas transfer test, there is a test to check whether there is a leak in the head unit of the device. Please follow the instructions below to perform the test.

Performing the Leakage Test

The leak test should be performed with a calibrated 3 litre syringe.

The following steps are performed:

1.
    Open device management for this

  • Start BLUE CHERRY

  • Select device (Diffustik/Bodystik) via corresponding button. (At the bottom of the screen)

  • Select the Device information; the following window is displayed  [1]

2.    Connect the calibration syringe to the Flow Unit ensuring the piston is already half way out.

3.    Set the menu item CO Demand Valve to ‘Closed’ [3]

4.    Set the menu item ‘Shutter’ to ‘Closed’ [2]

         5. Gently push/pull the syringe handle; if the handle moves when both the shutter and demand valve are closed, this indicates a leak on the system. Try to listen for escaping air to give a better indication of where the leak is occurring. If there is no movement in the handle there is no leak.

*Caution: The shutter will re-open automatically after approx. 10 seconds which will cause the syringe to move freely once again to avoid damage to the system we recommend pushing gently rather than trying to force the syringe handle*

If a leak has been found, all connections must be checked on the head unit of the device. We recommend taking off the sample line on the head unit and putting it back on ensuring the connection is tight. If the leak is still occurring contact the Lovemedical team for further steps.
